While we've had our share of MilitaryIndustrialComplex antics, Kaua'i just experienced a huge test of Directed Energy Weapons, especially since the media has focussed upon the flood damage, and completely ignored that this was the most intense lightning storm (at least in Kilauea), that I've ever seen. -- celeste

- The governor's request for assistance by the Hazard Mitigation Grant program was also approved for the State of Hawai'i. This program provides assistance to all Hawai'i counties to prevent or reduce long-term risks to life and property caused by natural hazards.

- Among the projects planned for PMRF are research and development in advanced hypersonic and directed energy weapons, which could include a high energy laser.
